Årets upplaga av Sweden Rock Festival är nu endast en vecka bort. Rocknytts Mattias Högström ställde några frågor till det tyska power metalbandet Iron Saviors sångare och gitarrist Piet Sielck inför festivalen.
Hi and welcome to Sweden Rock Festival. If I’m not mistaken this will be the first time you play here so it’s about time.
What expectations do you have ahead of the show?
We put together a selected set of old classics and some contemporary songs that will please all our fans and will also be great for folks who are not familiar with Iron Savior yet. I hope the crowd will party with us like there’s no tomorrow 🙂
How do you think about the setlist when you play at a festival?
As mentioned before, we always try to please our long term fans, the pre Landing folks and also the newest ones from the last 1-2 releases. So it’s always a hard job to pick the songs since there are so many that would deserve to get executed. But I think with the set we have for SR we may please a lot of fans and bring some smiles to their faces.
Which one of your songs do you enjoy the most to perform? And why?
Among all our “hits” Heavy Metal Never Dies always brings pure joy to us. This one has this special something you can’t really describe, but the fans always love this one and so do we. This makes performing this song so special.
What can the fans expect from an Iron Savior show in 2024?
Since we are all aged guys, we don’t run around like crazy and jump up and down like hell… but we always deliver high class metal with a good sense of entertainment and humour. I think nobody who comes to see our show will be bored ;-). We do entertain you. That’s what we are on stage for!
Are there any of the other bands this year you really want to see?
Hope to catch some Primal Fear in the morning and some Mystic Prophecy later on. Of course Journey is always great. Right now I am thinking of staying a day longer and catch up with Priest, which of course is my absolute favourite this year.
Your latest album “Firestar” was released in October 2023. How has the reception been for the album?
The fans loved it. It reached the highest chart position in Germany ever and also charted in Switzerland. All across Europe the fans really loved Firestar, which is definitely one of our top 3 albums ever.
If we put the economic aspects aside. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?
I would love to record and mix a Priest album. And that I would do for free ;-).
After you have left the stage at Sweden Rock what do you hope the audience will bring with them from your performance?
Peace of mind, happiness and love! The world needs a lot of these nowadays…
